SSC Hindi Translator Recruitment 2025 Important Dates

Application Fee

  • General/OBC/EWS Candidates: Rs. 100/-
  • SC/ST/Female Candidates: Rs. 00/-

Payment Mode: Fee can be paid through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit card, or in cash at SBI Branches by generating an SBI Challan.

Age Limit

  • For the post of Sub-Inspector (Hindi Translator) in CRPF: The age limit for the post is 18-30 years as on the closing date (26-06-2025) of receipt of online application, i.e., candidates born not before 25-06-1995 and not later than 26-06-2007.
  • For all other posts: 18 to 30 years as on 01-08-2025, i.e., candidates born not before 02-08-1995 and not later than 01-08-2007 are eligible to apply.
  • Age Relaxation: 
    • SC/ST Candidates: 08 years
    • OBC Candidates: 03 years
    • PwBD (Unreserved) Candidates: 10 years
    • PwBD (OBC) Candidates: 13 years
    • PwBD (SC/ ST) Candidates: 15 years

Eligibility Criteria

For Junior Hindi Translator/Junior Translation Officer/Junior Translator, Senior Hindi Translator/Senior Translator:

Master’s degree from a recognized University in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; OR

Master’s degree from a recognized University in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; OR

Master’s degree from a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject, or as the medium of an examination at the degree level; OR

Master’s degree of a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level;

For Sub-Inspector (Hindi Translator):

Master’s degree from a recognized University in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at the degree level; OR

Master’s degree from a recognized University in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; OR

  • Paper-I will consist of Objective Type Multiple choice questions only. Based on the marks scored in the Paper-I, i.e., Computer-Based Examination, candidates will be shortlisted, category-wise, to appear in Paper-II (Descriptive Paper). 
  • There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper I. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
  • Marks scored by the candidates in the Computer-Based Examination, if conducted in multiple shifts, will be normalized.

Indicative Syllabus:

Paper-I (Computer-Based Examination): The questions will be designed to test the candidates’ understanding of the languages and literature, correct use of words, phrases,  and idioms, and ability to write the languages correctly, precisely, and effectively. The questions will be at degree level.

Paper-II (Translation and Essay): This paper will contain two passages for translation – one passage for translation from Hindi to English and one passage for translation from English to Hindi, and an Essay each in Hindi and English, to test the candidates’ translation skills and their ability to write as well as comprehend the two languages correctly, precisely, and effectively. The level of the paper will be consistent with the educational qualifications prescribed.

Mode of Selection:

Minimum qualifying marks in the Computer-Based Examination are as follows:-

  1. UR: 30%
  2. OBC/EWS: 25%
  3. All Other Categories: 20%
