SSC Stenographer Grade C & D Recruitment 2025: The Staff Selection Commission will hold an Open Competitive Computer Based Examination for direct recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ (Group ‘B’, Non- Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (Group ‘C’) in various Ministries/Departments/Organizations including their Attached offices, Subordinate offices and Statutory bodies of the Government of India located in various States and Union Territories.

• General/OBC/EWS Candidates: Rs. 100/-
• SC/ST/Female Candidates: Rs. 00/-

Payment Mode: Fee can be paid through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit card, or in cash at SBI Branches by generating an SBI Challan.

Age Limit as on 01-08-2025

• Stenographer Grade ‘C’: 18 to 30 years as on 01.08.2025, i.e., candidates born not before 02.08.1995 and not later than 01.08.2007 are eligible to apply.
• Stenographer Grade ‘D’: 18 to 27 years as on 01.08.2025, i.e., Candidates born not before 02.08.1998 and not later than 01.08.2007 are eligible to apply.
• Age Relaxation: 
  • SC/ST Candidates: 08 years
  • OBC Candidates: 03 years
  • PwBD (Unreserved) Candidates: 10 years
  • PwBD (OBC) Candidates: 13 years
  • PwBD (SC/ ST) Candidates: 15 years

Education Qualification

• Candidates must have passed the 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University as on or before the cut-off date, i.e., 01.08.2025.

Vacancies: Tentative Vacancies: There are approximately. 261 vacancies. However, a firm number of vacancies will be determined in due course. Candidates may note that State-wise/ Zone-wise vacancies are not collected by the Commission.

Syllabus of SSC Stenographer Grade C & D Recruitment 2025

Scheme of Examination:

The details of the Computer-Based Examination are mentioned below:

• The question paper will be of Objective Type Multiple Choice only. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi.
• There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in the Computer-Based Examination.
• Marks scored by the candidates in the Computer-Based Examination, if conducted in multiple shifts, will be normalized.

Skill Test in Stenography:

The candidates who are shortlisted in the Computer-Based Examination will be required to appear in the Skill Test for Stenography. The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi at the speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’. The matter will have to be transcribed on a computer. The transcription time is as follows:

The Skill Test will be held at the Commission’s Regional Offices or other Centres (s) as may be decided by the Commission.

Mode of Selection:

Minimum qualifying marks in the Computer-Based Examination are as follows:-

1. UR: 30%
2. OBC/EWS: 25%
3. All Other Categories: 20%
